NOTICE OF DEATH

Virginia “Ginny” Ann Evert (Colglazier), age 98, of Roseville, MN, (formerly of Edinburgh, IN and Jeffersonville, IN) died peacefully on 6/12/2023 from complications of a fall and aging. Cancer survivor of 39 years. Born on 1/18/1925 in Anderson, IN. Graduated high school as valedictorian in 1942 in Walnut Grove, IN. Married (George) Norman Colglazier in 1943. Preceded in death by father Ben Evert, mother Mae Evert, sisters Dorothy “Dottie” Green and Mildred “Midge” Green, brothers Robert “Bob” Evert and Raymond “Ray” Evert, husband Norm, son Jerry Colglazier, and grandson Josh Colglazier. Survived by sons David (Laurie) Colglazier of Stillwater MN and Bruce (Mary Jane) Colglazier Pappas of Golden Valley MN, grandchildren Benjamin “Ben” (Wendy) Colglazier of Golden Valley MN, Eric (Cori-deceased) Takemoto of Anoka MN, Zoe (Jonas) Pappas Courneya of Golden Valley MN, and Rhea (Steve) Olson Pappas of Crystal MN, and great grandchildren Dominic Brandt-Takemoto of Robbinsdale MN, Lucy Jo and Charli Jane Courneya of Golden Valley MN.

Ginny lived her life on her own terms, living independently on her own from Norm’s death in 1994 in their Jeffersonville home and then in her Roseville apartment. Norm and she lived in Edinburgh IN from 1956-1967, when they moved to Jeffersonville IN. She gained a new identity (moving from being referred to as Norm’s wife and being called Virginia to Ginny), started working at the Jeffersonville License Bureau, eventually moving up to manager, and finally being hired as business manager for Jim Boone Volkswagen. In 1985, she acquired colon cancer and beat all odds of living of only 10% to live 2 more years. After Norm’s death, she travelled extensively. Her pride was volunteering for many years at the Louisville Palace Theater and the Kentucky Center for the Arts. She baked pies for celebrities and all who met her were touched by her kindness. She sold her home and moved to Roseville MN in 2007 to be around her sons and care for her oldest son Jerry until his death in 2008. She will be remembered by her big smile, disarming kindness, and giving thanks to those around her.
